Man charged for exceeding speed limit while driving a wheelchair




A man whose identity has not been released was detained by police and fined for driving a wheelchair over the speed limit without a license on a Brazilian highway.


The handicapped man, a retired fisherman from the southern Brazilian Estate of Santa Catarina was stopped by police and fined for speeding.


His complete identity is being withheld, but he has received the nickname “Mario Kart”.


According to DigitalJournal.Com, "Mario", who is missing an arm and has two prosthetic legs was driving his motorized wheelchair at high speed (estimated at 80 km/hr) on a busy highway.


The policeman who stopped him while speeding on BR101, near the coastal city of Itapema, SC, requested to see his driver's license, which "Mario" did not have.


Now he must stand trial for driving without a license!
