Masters Fan Struck by Golf Ball

A large crowd lined the 10th fairway, as Allenby's group included American drawcard Tiger Woods, and the middle-aged male fan had no room to move as Australia's top-ranked player drove his ball left of the fairway.

The man slumped immediately to the ground, where he lay for several minutes, before medical attendants arrived on the scene and hoisted him onto a vehicle bearing a stretcher.

While the fan was bleeding from the head as he was driven away, he managed to raise a smile and give a thumbs-up to the crowd.

According to the Daily Telegraph, in some small solace for what must have been an extremely painful blow, Allenby handed the injured man a signed golf ball before he was transported away.
